I have done my brakes on mu M and I cannot get the cover back on. It seems really stupid as I have had it off before no problem. Alan would you please repost your picture showing the brake band before you put the cover back on? Can't get it from archives. Somehow something is not right. Thanks, Henry

Do your covers have the adjustment bolt at the bottom? You might need to back it out a little.

There is a hole in the trans case that the activating lever fits into when the pan is installed. It has a brass bushing in it. Make sure this is clean and has some lubricant, grease or white grease or anti sieze. That would be the only thing that would keep the brake pan from going on...other than the brake band not going over the drum. I think the band can only go in one way and the pin put throught it. Look at the pan and move the activating lever with your hand..does the band tighten the same in both pans? Does the lever return the band wide open? That'd be a start..good luck
