anyone ever take the turn signal/flasher unit apart? interesting little gizmo (pics in a day). what about replacing the mechanical timer with a more common automotive type flasher?

have the new cnh installed and it works good. better last 20 years :) taking the old one apart i see why it's 60$, making a clock in the usa is spendy!

Is that unit hooked up (as the flashers in many tractors are) so it has to flash 4 lamps in "warning" mode, and 2 lamps in "turn signal mode"?

That would explain the mech. unit, which flashes at the same rate, despite the different loads.

(Of course, that's easily done with the electronic flashers of today that use electronics, along with a relay to carry the actual lamp load.

This unit normally flashes 2 for hazard and 1 for turning, but also makes the non turning side glow steady. if you hook up a trailer/implement (it has a 7 pin round type socket on it) then you have more lights. i do not know how it makes a trailer behave, as nothing on our farm is that modern except a baler that we don't use with that tractor--which has seperate amber and red however vs the tractor having only amber.

it seems to flash faster in turn signal mode vs hazard. taken apart, it looks like mechanically the timing of the flash is changed.

sorry no pics yet, i had more going on than i planned for this weekend.
