I need and amp meter for my super A. My question is will an amp meter for a 12 volt, more readily available at TSC or ebay work? I am pretty good at electricity but this one has me stumped. Thanks for your help.

Don't worry about voltage. If you have a generator, don't get a 60 amp meter. Your generator only puts out about 10-12 amps max. The needle will hardly move on a 60 amp meter. Get a 20 or 30 amp meter.

Remember, I = V/R, so for 12 volts versus 6 volts and r = same, the current on 12V will be 1/2 of the current at 6 volts. You will need an amp guage that is 1/2 the range of a 6 volt gage.

Sorry to disagree, but the issue is not a formula, it is the fact that measuring Amps is not sensitive to voltage at all. It is curent flow in (6.242X10 to the 18th electrons passing one point in one second, a coulomb)a conductor.
The only issue is sizing it to the rate of flow. In this case, the generator will put out 15 amps max, and a +20 and -20 amp meter is best. With respect, JimN

Or 62.4 to 18th? Let's keep it simple to figure a columbe. Is that half cucumber and half cauliflower? :)

It is tough to get much voltage out of a cauliflower, but one aluminum, and one copper nail stuck in a grapefruit will jump start MikeinCA's H !! JimN
