My newly purchased super A has 11.2x24 on the rear and 15x5.0 on front. These seem a little big. Im going to be mowing with it. Id like to have it sit a little lower. What is the stock size tire on this tractor. Is it 9.5x24 for rear??

Thanks

Thanks all for the opinions. I guess I will just mow with it with the 11.2s and see how I like it. If I dont like it, I will switch. The 11.2s are in good shape, its the fronts that are badly dry cracked. Thanks for warning me about the tire lug intreference problems. Ill watch out for that.

I have the Woods L-59 on mine, The last time I put on new rears I went with the 9.5"s. The smaller circumference has the effect of gearing the tractor down, so that the travel speed in any gear is lower. I can mow in 3rd now, and before with the great big rears, it just travelled to fast, and I was either bogging or dropping back to 2nd sometimes. Also, when backing with the deck raised, the mower will flip up sometimes, and the lugs of the rear tire will catch on the rear of the mower. I"ve damaged several tire lugs backing up, it was even worse with the larger tires.

I mow with 12.4 x 24 on the rear of a 140. Fronts are 5 x 15. Works good.

The most usual size for Super A tires is 11.2 x 24 on the rear. Not sure about the front, but I think 5.00 x 15 may be one size larger than normal. Going to the next size smaller tire is not going to lower the tractor enough that most folks would notice. The tires do tend to interfer with the deck of a Woods belly mower. Best solution is to set the tires out so they are just at the edge of the mower cut and dont't set the mower so it picks up high enough to conflict with the tires. The wider stance also improves the stability of the tractor.

The "standard" size tire in the owner's manual is 9-24, but the owner's manual points out that other sizes are available. I believe that 9-24 converts to 9.5-24 in today's sizes, but I am not 100% sure of that.
My Super A is the family lawn mower and it also has 11.2-24's on 9" rims on the back of it. I like them. But, tire sizes are a personal preference, so the decision is up to you. Bear in mind there were about 3 different rear rim sizes; roughly speaking, 8" wide rims (between the bead walls) were for 9.5 tires; 9" wide rims were for 11.2 tires and 10" wide rims were for 12.4 tires. You might fudge a little on tire sizes vs. rim width, but I'd avoid 9.5" tires on a wide rim. Talk to your tire dealer about rim width and tire size.
Also bear in mind that going to a smaller rear tire will noticeably slow the tractor in each gear. Maybe you'd like to slow it; maybe it travels at a good speed now with the 11.2" tires? Something else to think about.

Thats what my SA has w/Woods L-59 on it. I wouldn't bother changing them, as mine works great. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
