I nned to remove the tranny cover on my farmall C to work on a rear axle. I have everything loose excetp I don't know how to deal with the gear shift. I presume you drive the pin out at the base of the shifter. Any advice or information on getting the tranny cover off and how to deal with the gear shift would be appreciated.

If you everything loose, just put her in neutral and tear that baby off. The forks from your shiftermechanisme just slide over your gears, so no need to worry. Rather easy job.

Put the transmission in neutral and lift the cover off. The shifter will slip out of the notch; the harder part is to put it back on. Even that is not very difficult.
Do you have a new gasket?
