Wanting to put a 3-pt conversion on my '53 Super M and acquire a backhoe attachment (and others)to put it to work again. Anyone have experience doing this and care to advise pros and cons? Aside from the obvious, like needing a PTO hydraulic pump to run the backhoe, what are other add-on needs? Any particular 3-pt kits better for this? Any particular backhoe attachments (new or used) easily adaptable?? Thanks.

Dan: They say the strongest 3-point conversion kit for the M is made by Saginaw County Tractor. You can find them on the internet. That is the conversion kit I am going to get when I scrape up enough buck-O's.

Dan, I have a Vermier 3 pt backhoe, they work well but don't exspect them to be like an industrial. The 3 pt is nothing like being mounted ridgid to the tractor. With practice you can run them quite smooth, but if you get out of synck you can about buck yourself off. Good luck, Chuck

A wide front and a fairly heavy loader for counter weight and stability. Lee

Some 3PTH backhoes come with their own dedicated hyd. pump that is driven with a telescoping pto shaft from the tractor's pto. shaft. Armand
