I have aquired a f30 that was my great grandfathers, and I did not find it until there were no survivors in the family that knew anything about it. I am guessing it is a f30 because it has a water pump. I noticed that it has 2 fillers on the fuel tank and a small spigot on the side below the side filler. Do f30s start on gas and run on kerosene? Serial tag is gone. Any info on f30s would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Two sure signs of an F-30, besides the water pump:
1. The clutch pedal is attached to a round rod that goes down to the clutch lever that comes up near the front of the transmission.
2. The PTO/pulley clutch lever comes up on the RIGHT side of the transmission and crosses at an angle BEHIND the gear shift lever. On the F-20, the PTO/pulley lever comes out of the left side of the tranmission and extends just a little bit above the frame rail.
3. Wheelbase: F-20, 85", F-30, 94".

I notice you havnt mentioned the tool box under the gas tank, and.or the id plate that should be attached to it telling the sn AND the model, If the box or plate is gone, then what others have said is good advice

Yes, all fuel models started on Gasoline and then switched over to Kerosene or Distillate fuel when the engine was warmed up. F-30's used now start and run on Gasoline. Nice to hear you found your great Grandfather's old F-30. Post some pictures of the tractor if possible!

Andy.

Not sure that F-30's ever had a id tag like the later tractors. Sitting on the seat their should be some numbers welded on the outside of the left frame rail just ahead of the clutch pedal. This would be your S.N. Also look for casting numbers on engine and other castings and tell us what you find and where. Also I think their was a wide tread and narrow tread rear axel. This might help determine what year mfg.

I would say that your assumption is correct that it's an F-30 because of the water pump. Also you should be able to look on the top of the frame rail on the manifold side between the clutch housing and the tranny for a stamped serial number. If it's an F-30 it will start with the letters "FB". Let me know what you find and I can tell you the year. They were designed to start on gas then be switched to kerosene as you said. Kerosene was much cheaper than gas in the 30s.
