Hi guys, Just wondering how different an industrial-model "h" is from one made for farming? I have the chance to buy one in really good condition for $1000, but I"m not sure it can be used around the farm, or with a baler. Any help and suggestions would be great. Thanks again.

Forget the Industril H ....get a H or M with a PTO and hydrolics ..... you will need them for other chores....like a loder or snow plow.....

That would be an International I-4, not an industrial H. Its accually the industrial model of the W-4, standard version of the H. Engine is pretty much the same except for the front timing cover. Transmission speeds are a little faster than an H, and 2nd and 3rd are "backwards" from where they normally are. I will say Guy fays book mentions indusrtrial versions of the H and M, but it doesnt clarify if its an I-4 or an accual H or M, and I have never seen either. I hav a 45 I-4, neat little tractor and for $1000, you cant go wrong.

There was an Industrial M for sure, but I'm not sure on the H. Our own DCW has an Industrial Super M. Maybe he will see this and chime in...

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think there the same as a regular H, but without a belt pulley drive and hydraulics. The color is yellow with an INTERNATIONAL emblem up front instead of FARMALL.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about gearing, I guess. I"ve not been around Farmall/IH"s, and this one really seems to be fast in high gear. At least fast compared to our Allis B. Do you think this would be an OK tractor to run a square baler?

you could order a high first on the H's and M's though out there production run, i think that it was about 3 1/2 mph compared to 2 5/8 mph I think it would be too fast for a baler espically if its a PTO one.

I can bale in 2nd or 3rd gear at 3/4 throttle with my Farmall 504 pulling a Vermeer 504C round baler (5x4). The 504 I have has the high speed 1st and reverse, which I think is 3.5 mph 1st with 12.6x38, I have 14.9x38 installed. If it gets heavy, I just pull back on the TA. An H should me able to square bale in 1st... Just my opinion.
