My father in-law tractor is having problems with the hydralic lift on the brush hog and front end loader. It is very slow to lift and jerky. Where is the dipstick for the hyd fluid located. What weight fluid shouw I get. If it was run low on fluid will it get air in the pump and should it be drained. My father in law has passed on & I cannot ask him these questions. I am 200 miles away from the tractor and my sister-in-law has aske me where the Hydralic fill is. I have told her where the manual is located but am not there to show where to fill.

Hi Jerry, there is no hydraulic dipstick on 384.
You have to open the filler pipe plug behind the seat on top of the hydraulic housing. From Operator's Manual: "Remove plug and check oil level. Top up until oil is level with the top of the housing". There is also a filter on the suction line of the hydraulic pump. If weather is cold in your area, there is possibility of ice in the hydraulic system causing problems.
