Hmmmmm ??
I was going to order new valves and springs for the H this morning but am a bit perplexed. I measured the old ones and came up with 5.345” on the intake & 5.365” on the exhaust. The serial number is 364132 which, if I’m reading right, should have 5-15/32” valves which would be 5.46875” The older model H's used 5-5/16” or 5.3125”. I measured the overall length of my old ones I removed so what’s going on here? I mean they are pitted a bit but that seems like quite a difference doesn’t it?

I cleaned up a couple with the sandblaster and can read parts #s on them now. 50706DA & 50707DA. That seems to coincide with the 5-5/16" length part #s. Maybe they don’t measure the overall length?? Dunno!

I bought an H a couple of years ago that had the engine rebuilt. It sounded like it was missing when it idled but ran fine under load. Someone on this board suggested that it might have had valves installed for High Altitude operation. Well they were right. The High Altitude valves are a little longer. Put in the proper valves and it runs fine. Somebody on here can surley help you as they did me.

I ran into the same thing and ended up letting the machine shop order the valves for me. He was able to get valves that matched the old ones from his source.
