I was going to rob the front spindle assembly from the 1950 H and noticed they are not the same. What is the purpose of these "knobs"?

Here in central Pa you see them on a lot of H and M tractors. I even have a set laying around somewhere from many moons ago when we had a number 24 mounted picker.

Thanks guy's for the info!!

Yeah Mike, I tried turning the knobs and could not get it to turn, front wheel wheel drive must have been a later option

The spindle is the same, only the three bolt cap and Knob style "nut" are different. The corn picker spindles are kinda cool though! JimN

Not sure, but it looks like it is supposed to be for steering a implement of some kind??

Andy.

That is where you engage the front lockers for front wheel drive. Turn it clockwise till it engages. You will hear a click.
If it doesn't turn, it's probably rusted. Use your hands and don't give up. Report back in 3-4 months when you get it to move.
