hey guys i got to working onthe h this weekend and i ended up puting new cap rotor and a set of plug wires i also put in points and a condeser in and it still won't run i took a old spark plug wire and cut a v in it and it seems that the spark just stops what is wrong now

Did it run before you tuned it up ? If so, start putting the old parts back in until it runs again. If not, check to see if you have power at the points and try posting back.

If you have a distributor you need battery voltage from the ignition switch to the coil. If it's a mag you need to make sure the mag's grounding switch isn't in the off position. Take a piece of 320 wet or dry and rub those new points. Make sure the plug wires are in this firing order on the cap. Hal

Have you checked does the rotor line up with the tower when it fires.

Just thought---don't rule out the condenser---new ones can be bad--been there, done that.

Chuck is correct at .013 for mag, & .020 for the distributor.

isnt those specs. the other way around? dist. .013 mag .020 . make sure your plug wires are wire core not carbon.those automotive wires just dont cut it.

Wellsy, Do you have battery distributer or magneto? The points should be set at .020 for a battery, .013 for a magneto. Plugs at .025. Is it timed right? Good luck, Chuck

i have the vertical delco distibutoron this tractor i also checked the points and it was .20
