Got a couple of older IH tractors which I have always used HYtran in the hyd and tranny. Also have a couple of JDs with wet brakes and one has a wet clutch. Think I need to use JDhygard in them. None of the IH have wet brakes or wet clutches, but do have mechanical TAs. Also I DO NOT like to mix hyd fluids. Sure would be convenient to stock only one kind of hyd fluid. Anyone have any experience using JDhygard in IH tractors? TIA.

I was told at an oil meeting that you can use Hy graud in JD and IH.

But don't put HYtran in JD. Because of the additive needed for JD brakes.

I run HyGaurd in all my tractors, red and green. We have for 25+ years and never have had a oil related problem. My Deere dealer sells it in bulk at a good price. I hate to mix oils to.

Leonard: I had one Deere with wet disc brakes, power shift and remote valves and 4 IH with remotes. I quite regularly exchanged implement cylinders from one to the other. I gradually went to Hy guard in everything, but I didn't dump any HY tran to achive this. If I did change the oil in an IH system, I refilled with Hy guard.

As far as I'm concerned the Hy guard is a better oil for either system. I didn't have any IH system problems. What I did notice, using pure Hy guard compared to pure Hu tran, hydraulic cylinder rams got a nice gleam with Hy guard, even to the point you could identify someone in the reflection.

I'm betting more folks have used inferior oil by outside suppliers claiming their product is Hy tran specs. Had a guy do that to me once, claimed his oil was hy tran specs, and within 3 months I bought new hydraulic pumps for 300, 560 and 656. I used Hy guard in my Case Uniloaders as well.

I am a parts guy at a Deere dealership and have gone to numerous Deere classes on their lubricants. Hygard is a very high quality oil and has lots of additives to help with brake chatter in wet brakes, help with clutch plate wear, and fight off moisture. I believe HyTran is probably a high quality oil as well for the machines that it is designed to work in. I will probably work fine with no problems, but I try to recommend that you use the oil thats designed for your machine.

If anyone else has info on this, i would love to know it
