I just discovered that the person I bought my F-12 from, used high resistance wires. Been having intermitant spark issues, and now no spark at all.

Have I fried the coil in my F-4 mag? Or am I now just consistently jumping the safety gap?

thanks guys. I will replace the auto wires with good old fashioned copper core. Points and condenser will also be checked.

More to come on this.

Those "automotive" type plug wires are a real pain, don't use them on your tractor, they do not do the job on these old tractors. I've used them before and they give a very poor spark, get new COPPER CORE plug wires, they make a HUGE difference! Also make sure your plugs and points are clean when you put on new wires. I think the coil may be alright, try the new copper wires before replacing the coil.

Andy.

Have you filed and cleaned the points? I would put new/file points, put copper cored plug wires on it and give 'er a whirl

Right off hand I can't think of what would be causing that problem. But, if you are interested, I can rebuild it for you.
