im looking for rings for our super a. i ordered them from A&I tractor parts for $24.00. the problem is they are .090 thick and i need .125 thick. i called the ih dealer and he quoted a price of $117!!!! holy crap, are thiers gold. i then called bates corp. , and they were $108. YT had them for $106. it cant cost more than a nickle to make a ring a few thousandths thicker. does any one know of a cheaper place to get them. the engine was never properly ran in and the rings didnt seat, so theres no need to spend extra cash to install all new pisons and liners. any help appreciated, thanks.

If you have good (unseated ) rings do this:
Take it apart.
Use a ball brush 250 grit glaze breaker on the cylinders.
Use a slow drill and move at a brisk pace up and down the entire length of the bore (about 1 minute each) using 1/2 diesel, and 1/2 engine oil for solvent.
Clean all parts, pre-lube the components with engine oil when putting it together.
Make sure the rings are spaced at least 1/3 of the way around (staggered gaps).
And go for it. JimN

I used to buy a few rings direct from HASTINGS, but a little over a year ago, there was a change of ownership there, and prices more than doubled. Probably the same with other sources, as well.

You could try giving Dave Reed a call, and see what he can do, but I wouldn't hold my breath!
