I noticed one day that when i started my 966 it smoked alot when i started it, much more than normal and (rough running for a minute or less). After it warmed up it was fine no more smoke then when i went down the road at half throttle it was fine then full throttle it poured out. Then it cleared up. It was a blue mostly whiter color. That was last summer now this winter when it wasnt that cold (35 degrees) it still done a little smoke. when the tractor was plugged in it never smoked. Is this something? or is it just a case of bad fuel?

I ran a 966 for a friend a couple of summers... even when it was 80 degrees it would smoke when I started it.

As long as it clears up and only does it when starting or giving it more throttle I wouldn't worry.

Cleaning and resetting the pressure on the injectors can help somewhat on clearing up this kind of smoke but what you describe is pretty much normal in cold weather.

Sounds like a case of "normal" to me.

Thanks everybody I know they will smoke some. It was just a few times that it was much much more than normal.
Allan that is one sharp 966 looks almost identical to mine. Off the tractor subject since your from NE. We are trying to move west and start a new dairy. We have been to North Dakota, South Dakota, and Kansas. Could you tell me what the dairy infastructure is like in NE? Or a good area for a 50 cow herd?
