my 200 won"t start. it has new points and condensor that are set and working properly. in following the step by step from john t posted 12-28-07, i found the coil to distributor wire goes dead when the nut on the post through the side of the distributor is tightened. i took the post off, and can"t see any cracks in the bakelite? , but it definitely kills the electricity. any suggestions short of buying a whole distributor? thanks.

Mine had the same problem and for a temporary fix I wrapped the post with teflon tape and then reinstalled and has been working for a year now so I have left it alone.

Shorts in that area are common problem, insulators and post were still available last time I checked so that area can be made "like new". If your local dealer does not want to get them I bet Bermuda Ken at cngco.com will.
