Other than normal wear, only thing I can find wrong is PTO yokes are a little out of phase from a repair. Also could stand some pickup teeth.

All bearings are good, belts look to be the same length, has good matched tires. Should work for me!

Here's the whole rig.

The M should have enough power if you are not in a hurry, but when it comes to lifting the gate to eject the bale, the "belly" hydraulics may not have enough "umph". If your SM has a live power set up (distributor) you should have enough hydraulic power for the gate if your pump is good. Been through it. Good Luck

Thanks.

Yes the Super is a stage two and as such I don't expect any trouble with the hydraulics.

UUFFDDAA Looks like a looong day. I'd be concerned with the hydraulics.

The only time the speed you are running a round baler matters is when tying the bale to be sure you get enough twine on it.

As for horsepower - different balers require different minimum hp. I know our 3650 CIH baler would make our 806 smoke when the bale got full, and I know our JD 567 will make the 2590 Case smoke if you want to bale fast... Less horsepower = slower going.

Exactly!

An M will round bale, just not at great speed.

Now What?

Go mow some hay. And try her out.

Is that a MTA or Super M on there.

That is just a plain old M!
I've got a Super M that I bought last fall that I'm planning on using. I've got it in the shop finishing it up.

The one in the background is a distillate Super that dad bought; future project.

Now I did run a similar sized Vermeer with the plain M last year. It ran it, but it was a full load on it.

I ran a Vermeer round baler of about the same size last year with that tractor. You have to set up the hydraulics to run a two way cylinder but other than that it will work.

The IPTO makes it easier when you're finishing a bale because you can stop the tractor but keep the bale rolling while you tie it up. Without it you have to either do some fancy footwork or pull off the windrow. The round baler is simpler in function than a square baler, IMO. You just have to use common sense when making a bale in one with a smaller tractor. You might have to make a little bit smaller bale. It takes more HP, as the bales get bigger and heavier, to keep rolling the bale in the machine. A round bale could be anywhere from 800 to 2000 pounds depending on the size of the machine and how tightly it rolls the hay.
