I've been corresponding with a fellow in England who posted here afew weeks ago and is involved in restoring a '42 BN. (GerryBN was his handle.)
In pictures back and forth, I noticed that his tractor had an International hood emblem.

I know that the hood decals varied according to where the tractors were shipped, but was of the mind that those hood emblems were put only on the Ws and the International As. Might that have varied, as well? Gerry has your Originality Guide (as do I), but this is one of those things that didn't come up in the appendices.

Would that International hood emblem have been original (for shipment overseas), or perhaps something done in expedience as part of an earlier rebuild/refurbish?

Any thoughts or direction would be welcome.

TIA.

Is it possible that industrial versions had the International emblem? Is there any evidence of yellow or orange paint?

I don't believe they ever made an industrial B. i.e., no front axle to beef up, no foot feed, and B/BN gearing was the same as the Farmall A. Industrial As (ser# prefix IAA) were geared a little differently.

If it was shipped with the International emblem, I'd think it was more of a branding issue than any mechanical difference in the tractor from a Farmall.

I have allso got a 1940 B wich was converted to a BN in 1944 and it also as an INTERNATIONAL on the front bonnet. I have also seen the INTERNATIONAL on the front bonnet of several Farmall A & B tractors wich came to the UK in the early 1940s as well as A & B tractors with FARMALL badges. All Farmall H & M tractors came with the Farmall badge and all W4 W6 & W9 tractors came with the International badges. MJ

Interesting! Not sure if I'm going to be able to get a definitive answer on this. (If Guy doesn't know . . .) ;8^)

I think I remember reading in some book that most IH tractors that went for export had the "International" badge... don't remember particularly what book, though.

Wow, what an interesting question. I haven't seen anything that would shed light on the answer.
