A friend of mine is restoring a set of cultivators but isn"t sure of the colors. Could someone possibly show a picture of the different colors for the different parts. Thank you very much for your help.

OK, for a '49 we can cover most of it. I'm assuming it has Touch-Control.

The front universal mounting frames and the rear rockshaft aren't actually part of the cultivator, but would have been red. The lower bar on each front mounting frame probably had a "McCormick-Deering" decal.

The cross bar and lift/pressure rods on the rear were red. The main tool bars, front and rear, and tool bar extensions were blue. If you have spring trip or friction trip standards, they were black. Standard clamps were black. Spring teeth, if any, were black. Plant shields were blue. Shovels and sweeps were unpainted, but varnished.

You can go to WHS as Dave suggested. The details are there.

I am sorry that I did not give more details. I called my friend and all he knew as far as details, is that it is a 1949. I hope this helps get the right colors. Thanks again for the help.

Also, different colors on different parts. Different tool options can have some effect. Get more specific with the question and people here can get more specific with an answer.

The cults. were painted different colors, depending on the year they were made. The first ones were red and blue. Then red, and the last ones were white.

Mine are Blue and I think they came that color.
At any rate, I sandblasted them and repainted them the same. I got a quart of IH blue from Value-built I think. I also have the sight rod that mounts to the headlight "I just painted it white".
