What's the hole for on the botom of the diff shaft case , underside. Also should their be any gaskets between the diff shaft case and the rear axil housing or the trans case? Thanks Ray.

Ray: The differential case has a double shell, and that hole is designed to drain off any oil that may have leaked from rear end, past the upper axle seals. Suposedly to catch the oil before it gets to the brakes, or over filling the final drive sumps. It should be kept cleaned out.

There are no gaskets either place as the seal on the tranny keeps the grease in and on the final drive there is a seal there to keep grease in. The holes anybodys guess maybe for dirt to fall out or better yet to let the operator know if the seals are leaking.

The hole in front of the transmission is not only for the mud dobbers, but to adjust the clutch.
