Will the 1 inch bar from an M fit on the H? Mine is worn and needs replacing.

If the U shaped drawbar they will interchange no matter the thickness. If the swinging drawbar the H has a smaller pin hole in the front than a M. different angle on the bends and some have a little different hole spacing for the strap or roller mounting. Very little difference in the length of bars. Several different bars and mounting pivets, also of different thickness and bends were used over the years. Bolt spacing for roller mounting was changed also. M and H pivets won't mount to the other tractor. One inch thick swinging drawbars didn't come out until until 52 for M size tractors. SH and up used a one inch also but it was not as wide as the M. Pivets were changed to wider opening for the thick drawbars. After saying all of the above it seems farmers make do with what they have sometimes. Found H bars on M and M on H over the years, most with some welds and other modifications. Even found a H pivet bolted to a M tractor with drawbar. They had cut slots at the three bolt holes.

Not only are the drawbars different thicknesses, they're different lengths too, right? Unless you use an H drawbar on an H, the PTO will chatter whenever you make a turn with a PTO implement.

I don't know about pulling directly from the U-shaped drawbar support... I've read in several places that these Saginaw 3 point hitches aren't good for heavy tillage because they place stresses on the axle housings that they're not designed to take, like twisting forces. The U-shaped drawbar support looks like it would put the same kind of twisting forces on the axle.

Jed and CNKS are correct on the bar. I would think (just thinking) thay the M bar could be reduced in thickness where it inters the belly casting to allow use. Another Wild idea might be to use the M belly casting and pin. I do not know if the bolt spacing to the trans casting is the same. A drawbar is much easier to turn with when pulling heavy pull implements that aren't lifted at the ends of the field. Welding up your old one is certainly possible. JimN

The swinging draw bar pulls down on the tractor belley much more than the U drawbar does. It is a safer bet for heavier pulling. The M drawbar is too thick at 1 inch to fit in the H belley opening.

Horseshoe drawbar will fit the C through at least the 560.

The swinging drawbars will not interchange, but also, the swinging drawbar was an option. Unless you specifically need a swinging drawbar, just remove it. The horseshoe shaped drawbar is all most people need. You can attach implements directly to it.
