Hi Kirk, Value depends on condition and are there any around in your neck of the woods. In some parts of the Country, I would suspect that the W-6 is more common then the 400. Down here in South Texas, the 400 series tractors are more common. I have only seen 2 W-6 series tractors and mine is the only one running. Your tractor isn't in all bad shape. You've seen the pictures, yours can look like that too! Get busy man and have fun. If you decide to part it out let me know.
Charles

400s were all red. I think it best that you sell that tractor and be done with it. Seems most all of your post about this tractor are negative, so just sell it and be done with.

kirk, my advice here is that you should spend some time and get the W6 running before offering to trade it on a 400. A non-running W6 is worth its weight in scrap, basically. A 400 in any sort of running condition is worth way more.

The W6 would have to be cherry to trade even-up for a 400 in average condition. It's just not worth as much.
The fact that you can't get it to run looks very BAD to a prospective trader too, especially since you express confidence in your ability to get a 400 to run. The engine design for both tractors is essentially the same, and the same techniques work on both engines. In other words, if you can get a 400 to run, you can get that W6 running, unless the engine is junk. Nobody in their right mind will trade a newer, running tractor for an older, non-running tractor with a possibly junked engine...

Fill in the blank with "nice guy" - who bought the wrong tractor to suit his tastes. Now, he is going through the agony of recognizing and dealing with his mistake. Not fun. I sympathize with him. (Many of us have made similar mistakes.) Probably not as bad as marrying the wrong woman. mike durhan

True, Mike. But you have to admit, his post can be confusing at times. I have offered to buy it from him countless times in the past, and once he wanted to trade it for an M, well I was willing to do that as well, AT MY EXPENCE. But alas, no W-6 at the house yet, so I have given up on that. Seems hes always post this and that about it but when it comes to being serious about something he shys away.
