was driving the tractor down the road this past weekend and the front left wheel wobbles pretty bad, which shakes the tierod and causes the steering wheel to shake. The right wheel stays straight so its not the axle itself. My thoughts are either the axle spindle or possibly the wheel bearing is shot...any ideas? I don't want to replace more then i need to.

thanks
-Bryan

i haven't checked the tie-rod...i actually just bought the tractor and am in the process of getting her field ready by April. hopefully its just the bushing, i didn't even think about that. thanks guys for the ideas, i'll have to check her out next time i get a free moment

While tractor is stationary, turn the steering wheel back & forth & look at the top of the left spindle to see if there is play between the arm & the spindle nut. If there is play here, it could be loose splines at the top of the spindle or bushings as mentioned before. A third possibility is a worn-out thrust bearing which is at the bottom of the spindle where the axle hub is located. If this area is satisfactory, jack the left side of the front axle up & check the wheel bearings with no load on them. Have you checked the tie rods???

The most likely culprit is the bushings in the part that the spindle goes up through. Had the same thing on the 856 that I used to own.

I would say It's probably warn splines on the stearing arm and the axle post.

Wheel bearing is a good bet, could also be bad tire, bushing, or may even be tie rod ends on that side.
