I found a couple of bent (not severe) pushrods. I re adjusted the valve clearance without straightening the rods. What effect will this have on the engine operation?

I read the posts, but don`t reply much. This one I will.230 HM your valves have been seized in the guides quite likely causing the push rods to bend. You best be doing a little more investigating with the valves and rockers,to remedy the problem.Sraightening the bent push tubes doesn`t.

Don"t know about that. I revived a 1940 H about 8 years ago that had two bent pushrods because of the valves being stuck. I got the valves freed up, and then I straightened the push rods by laying them down on a solid, flat surface and hammering them until they were nice and straight again. Didn"t take much. That H then got the woods belly mower installed on it, and it has been faithfully cutting the grass every summer since. No problems.

As Allan says once bent they will keep bending till they either brake or fall out of place and if either one happens it can cause other problems

They'll just keep bending. They don't straighten very well either.
