What is the cutoff serial number for the change to red paint on f-20's? Anybody know? I have #58117 and was gonna paint it red, but found some grey paint on cleanup.

It was gray comming out of the factory.
Acording to Guy Fay's article in Red Power a few years ago, the first red F-20 should have been #68749. That is most likely the first F-20 produced after November 1, 1936. However, IHC never threw anything away and any left over part/paint was used. Since yours has a smaller number, it was gray from the factory. However, many dealers painted the gray F-20s they had on hand red to make them look more modern.
It is your tractor. Paint it whatever color you want. I painted my Dad's 1935 F-20 red because that is the color he had it painted in the 1950s.
