Guys, i have a 1950 suprA that i just bought. The man said that it was running 1 year ago. cleaned it up and it wont start. turns over good, gets good gas but i dont seem to be getting spark, tryed plug in plug wire and held next to block and no spark . any ideas???? also gaps are set correctly and tractor has been converted to 12 volt. PLeeezzze????

Take a small piece of 320 wet or dry and clean those points, then see if the engine will start.

Slap in a new set of points and condensor. New plugs couldn't hurt either.

yeah its got a distributor. checked all connections and cleand all contacts. still nuthin.

Remove the cap, rotor and dust cover if it has one. Turn the switch on and then by hand open and close the points. You should get a spark when you do that. If you don't run a hot wire to the coil and try again. If you get a spark when hot wired then you have a switch problem etc going back from the coil if you still don't have spark replace the points and try again

Start from the battery and go to the spark plugs, checking for proper voltage at each step. A multimeter is good for this.
