Ok, I did what you guys said. Used a 50-50 mix of ATF and motor oil in each cylinder. Blew air into oil pressure line. The I prelubed that line.
Lubed the valve train rocker galleries. Buttoned it up, plugs out and hit the starter . With the new battery fully charged and O cables it spun like crazy. It took about eight 5 second tries and then the oil pressure came right up to about 25. That's good for just the starter isn't it? Glad y'all were here to keep me from damaging the rebuild. Gas tank should be painted this week and then it's TUNE TIME!

25 is great on starter.
You said blew air into the lines.
Well Both Old and I indicated oil going into the lines. Olds tank has oil in it under air pressure to make it fill the system with oil. Tho oil was put in, the tank valve put on, chucked full of 30 PSI air, then turned upside down to allow only oil out, then attached to the gallery and the valve opened some to prelube it all. No worry, it worked,, JimN

We use to always prelube an engine when we going to going to run them on the dynamometer test stand. A Wagner brake bleeder would make a good preluber. I was able to spin the oil pump on a GM engine with a 1/2 inch drill. Hal
