I ran across this old 656 with a loader sitting in the back of an older gentleman"s pasture. It looks pretty rough; he says it"s been sitting there for about 4 years. He says it"ll run, but it blows oil out of the head gasket. He figures the head is warped. All of the hoses on the loader look REALLY rough, but he says they don"t leak. I haven"t done a lot of research on the cost of parts for these things; I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if $1500 is a pretty good deal for this tractor. Thanks, Steven

Engines don't normally blow gaskets unless there's something wrong.
Like the other guys said, it's worth more than $1500 in parts, and for $1500 you could afford to do some engine work, still part it out and be ahead of the game.

The tractor will part out for more than that...

Is it gas or diesel? Gas engine parts are of course cheaper than diesel and also more available.

It's a diesel. I've found the gasket set for less than $100, but I'm afraid of having to buy a head.

If it's a 2000 loader, I paid $1500 just for a loader and bucket with no tractor attached, so it must be worth at least $1500 in parts. If you don't want it, is it near Illinois?
