I remember seeing a post that had metric tire sizes that would fit on the front of a narrow M but my searches are not finding the thread. Can anybody tell me what modern metric truck size tires would fit on my narrow front M? I just dont have the cash for 2 new tri ribs but used truck tires I can get free, just have to pay $5 for mounting.

Thanks

It will steer much better with tractor tires.

Thanks Bill, thats just what I need and 75s are more common than the 80s, now I know I can get away with a 245-75.

Janicholson, the $5 is cheap, thats just for the mounting, the tires themselves are free if I dig them out of the pile. Free because he already got $2 to dispose of them when somebody bought new tires and he will save that plus make a couple bucks mounting the tire. That wont cover a new tube so I hope my existing tube will work.

Thanks again guys, off to the tire shop...

The tires need to fit the rim size (probably 16", but not for sure) 205R80 would probably fit. 195R80 would be a bit smaller. There are differences between tires from different manufacturers, so taking a measurement across the body of the old tire while inflated, and looking at the distance between it and the lower bolster casting at the top of the casting where the tire gets closest would be good to take with to the tire install. The fatter the harder steering, and the more susceptible to mud drag. But they also have a bit more flotation. The rim on the tractor will be narrower than original truck rim, so don't go too stiff. The narrow rim will also cause the tread to bulge just a bit, but not an issue. The $5.00 price is low due to the need for an appropriate tube, you could try the existing tubes, but they often do not like being being stretched to bigger interior volumes. Good luck, JimN
