MY 340 UTILITY POWER STEERING GEAR BOX CALLS FOR IH HI TRANS OIL SUPPLIMENT TO BE USED, ABOUT 1 AND 3/4 PINT TO FILL GEAR BOX TO TOP OF FILL PLUG ON STEERING UNIT. IS THIS MAYBE THE SAME AS REGULAR 80-90 WT GEAR OIL. THANKS, JIM

Did you rebuild your power steering unit? I have a 340 utility that I was thinking of replacing seals and gaskets but wasn't sure how readily available parts were.

In the old days (when the book was printed) an oil supplement was needed.

Nowadays, Hytran is all you need.

Hy-Tran is hydraulic and transmission fluid. Do not use the 90 wt. Any supplier should have something that is close. David.

I think what you are talking about is closer to automatic trans fluid. You did say power steering. I think 80-90 would blow a seal. Check with someone who knows for sure.
