You need a puller like NE Kirk's or like the one Keith made. You will need to have the puck undercut to fit the sleeve bore. Hal

Ben`s technique works great on wet sleeve engines but not so easy on dry sleeve 361`s. If you don`t have access to a sleeve puller and are handy with a welder you can weld a bead down the length of the inside of the sleeve. ( do not weld through the sleeve). The welding process makes the sleeve contract(loose) in the engine bore and will come out with very little force. To install, freeze new sleeves (Dry Ice is best) and warm block by filling the block with coolant and using block heater.Sleeves slide in easily.

i have been removing sleeves for some 15, 20 years best tool i have found is a 1and 1/4 inch solid bar about 20 24 inches long have it wraped with duck tape so it dont scar the crank. if it a in fram job lay under tractor couple good hits and they pop right out if it out the tractor engine sitting on it end same thing i can knot out a set sleeves this way before you can get the first one out using a puller. if it an in fram and you do the first one watch out for a shot water in the face. i know lot say wrong way did a 414 ih and a 466jd this weak. my sleeve remover fits all sized engines.

The best way is with a sleeve puller. Here is one I made.

third party image Fairly eaisy to make if you have axcess to a welder & torch. The hardest part to make would be the machined puck. A machine shop can make you one eaisy enough, or if you have a friend with a lathe, even better!
