Mac, I use a 2000 watt Zero-start tank heater from NAPA. Removed the brass drain cock in front of oil filters, relpaced with a 1 and 1/2 inch nipple and tee. Short nipple and hose to front goes to heater, drain cock goes to back. The warm hose goes up and directly accross engine to a plug on the left side of thermostat housing. Starts in an hour and a half when below zero like this morning. Good luck, Chuck

I have 2 856's with 407 diesels that have soft plug block heaters. I think one came from dealer one from catalog, both work fine. I'll check tomorrow, see if I can see what kind they are. Lee

Mac, I would assume the mechanic knows what he is talking about. I use a tank heater, tomorrow I will check exactly how I put mine on. Give you a description then. Sorry I have not got the No.70 plow manual copied for you yet, almost never go to town and have so little time. Will try to get it soon, Chuck
