M hood Latches

Are m hood latches visable at all from the side on an M. I got h latches off of an old hood. They seem to hang to low below the edge of the hood. The H ha 2 tab brackets. Mine has 3 tabs like the pic attached. Is this a problem? Are they supposed to hang down a little?

My H hang down an 1"....if they dident you couldent get a hold of them....H through 450 used the same latch.....
