i overhauled engine on a international 340 gas tractor. i replaced release bearing while i had the engine out. its all back together now, and i have engine timed and it sounds great. problem: WHEN I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE DOING ANYTHING. Im not sure what the heck is going on here. should i try adjusting the clutch linkage rod that goes from clutch pedal. thanks Jim

If the tractor has an inspection cover at the bottom, pull it off and have a look. With the engine shut off,and in neutral, have someone shove the pedal down, and if you can, turn the input shaft with your hand.If you can't reach it,jack one wheel clear, put it in gear, then turn the wheel. With the clutch released,it should turn easily. As a rule of thumb, the release bearing should be about 3/16 of an inch away from the fingers of the plate with the pedal up,or thereabouts.

I'd say without seeing it by what you say you have the disc in backwards. The disc of your clutch should have a center hub that has the springs on one side, that side faces the plate. If you put it in backwards, this hub will be up against the flywheel bolts, bolt the plate on it,and you have a bound up clutch.

I hope this helps

I recently put a clutch in D15 Allis and had the same problem . Check the disc thickness, Mine was .125 too thick and required the pressure plate to be adjusted . Quality control is'nt always up to snuff!. gh
