I know a good number of you folks chuckle a bit when you see me recomending CaseIH parts over other parts. Yes, some items are more money, however many are not, but what you do get from CaseIH has durability and longeviety.

Case in question, shortly after coming to YT, now 8 years ago, I got talked into auto parts store carburator kits for my SA and 130. That bloomin needle valve with the damn plastic tip. Well the damn things leaked almost since the day I installed them, damn gas stains down the side of my engine block, probably evaporated 100 gallons of gas in the past 6 years.

Recently I purchased a kit for my 130 from CaseIH, when I opened the package, a steel tipped needle valve. Installed it as per directions. Since then carburator is dry, block is dry and floor is dry every morning, and I've yet to turn the gas off.

I've seen much the same with auto part stores ignition parts, very poor quality. Points with the arm so long less than 10% of the actual contacts make contact. Distributor caps that don't fit. Thanks, but I'll be sticking with CaseIH.

Well you may be right with Case parts but with Massey parts they are up to twice the price. That kinda makes you think twice.

As far as filters go Wix are hard to beat. Check www.filter1.com for pricing some of the best I have found in the past.

Like you Hugh, I've been frequenting this board since 1998 and have watched the dealer debate come and go a number of times with different players. I am fortunate in the fact that my dealer is less than 3 miles away and have bought parts at the same counter from some of the same men for 30 plus years. In that time, I can only remember parts failing a couple times and even then, it was handled with no questions asked. Most dealers also handle aftermarket (Tisco, Valubilt...ect) as well. When restoring older tractors first got popular, there was a period of time that I felt IH was always too high on any parts that even might be used on a collector tractor and they forced many people into the aftermarkets arms. It was only then that they got their prices back in line. As to carb kits, its my thoery that the viton tip has been the best thing to ever happen to parts makers and the worst for tractor owners. Years ago, there wasnt NEARLY as many carb kits being bought and installed as there is today. I'm sure some of it is the quality of gas and another portion is the number of people doing it for their first time and not getting it right. Any thoughts?

I have had better luck with Case/ IH parts too. Sometimes I am forced to go aftermarket such as the belts for my Cub Cadet mounted tiller. The aftermarket belts don't fit as well but do the trick for much less cost. Mostly tho I find Case/ IH parts not bad at all in cost.

Last time we checked for the non-viton tipped needle from IH for the SC, it was $43. Ouch.

I am with you, Hugh. But, I just bought a needle and seat from my CIH dealer for my Super M and it had the black composite tip on the needle. Either you got one from old stock on hand, or I did. I hope it was me and that you got the new stock. mike durhan

The last two needle valves I got from case this fall were both tipped with black something. You have probably seen my carb problems posts. The first one kept sticking which may have been cause I pushed on it adjusting the float. I don't think the all metal ones would be as bad. Then the second one wouldn't shut off. Adjusted the float to more that specs to stop that.

I was just looking for filters. I couldn't find a place that would cross reference napa numbers. However at www.wixfilters.com they have a cross reference. All the caseih filters cross ref to wix numbers including the hydraulic filters. Then go to the www.oreillyauto.com and put in your local store and put in the wix number in the search. It will show you a picture of the filter with all the specs and the next screen will give the price and tell you if your store has it in stock or if they need to order it. Then just call your local store.

I like caseih but the wix filters are good and the prices are cheaper. Case had to order a hyd filter for me this week. It took 2 days and I drove 30 miles to get it. It was $5 higher than oreilly's and then caseih tacked on another $5 for shipping.

I bought the new stock sediment bulb setup from caseih for $50 and the shutoff never completely shutoff. TSC had them for $20-$30. Those aftermarket plug wires I bought from Orscheln were crap though.

Must be something new. The last Farmall H carb kit I bought from Case-IH had the viton tipped needle valve in it, and cost 3 times more than the same kit from Tisco.

Rusty, Do you use that kit from TSC SKU#0236936, priced at 38.27? Or is there a better one?

when i bought a needle and seat for my H from CIH a few years back, it was plastic/rubber tip. the original was all metal.

Have they switched back? I hope they all are metal now.

I bought a NOS needle ( steel) and seat for my H. It leaked and the float height adjustment was a lot different too. I went back to the new style .
