farmall super A serial #'s

I just purchased a Farmall super A and want to know what year it was made. The id plate has the numbers 29263? and 540 stamped underneath it. any info would be appreciated. ill post pics later this evening.

Stan: I agree with Scotty, the number 540, should actually read 1540, high idle for a Super A.

You might try cleaning it upa little bit and see if that isn't 1540. The second number on the Ser.# plates was usually the no-load high idle speed. On one of my tractors it was pretty obviously stamped by hand -- 15 with one die, and 40 in a slightly different size numbering that was a little crooked from the 15. I don't know as I've ever seen two digit-stamps like that anywhere else.

In addition to what Andy provided, 292637 is the serial number and 540 is the tractor's power take off operating rpm. Serial number charts are on the left side of this page under Research & Info. Click on Farmall then Super A. mike
