When I tighten down the bowl after cleaning it cuts off the fuel supply. If I loosen the bowl I get a full fuel supply, but of course the bowl is not sealing at the gasket, as I tighten the bowl down where it doesn,t leak it cut off the fuel supply. I have blown back into the tank, lubricated the gasket, cheched the screen ( as far as I can tell) for obstruction and still the same problem. Of course this is a gravity feed type system. What am I missing. Thanks in advance as always for ya'lls help.

Thats normal just tighten it down and start the engine. If you then watch it, it will fill. All it means is the carb is full of gas and the float is working as it should. Works just like if you take a straw and hold you finger over it and stick it in a glass of water. The straw will not fill up with water because of the air in it, take you finger off and it fills same works on that sediment bowl

My H does the same thing, do as Allan said, but, let the fuel bowl get full, tighten the bowl up and start the tractor and it will continue the flow of fuel to carb.

Tighten it down and forget it.

As the engine runs and the needle opens, it will let the air in the line escape into/out of the bowl vent and the glass will then go ahead and fill.
