there is a spacer block, approx. 3 inches, between the pto assembly and rear tractor housing. I do not remember which way the spacer went when I took it off. Does it matter which way it faces?

you might have some luck checking out the Case IH website. sometimes the parts diagrams give you a picture of how it is supposed to fit

After further research I see it is called an adapter plate but I still am not sure if it is bi-directional. Top and bottom are easy to distinguish, it is in and out I am not sure of.
