What was the difference between the 100, 130 and the 140 sheet metal?

Mainly the grille. 100 and 130 were essentially the same, except that the 130's grille was white.

The 140 went through a couple changes to match the tractor styles of the time. From '59-'63, the grille matched the rest of the 240, 340, 460, 560 series tractors. From '63 on, it was a square grille that resembled the '06 series tractors.

OK. my tractor has serial number 18501J which corresponds to a 62 140. The hood has 130 signs on it but I think that was swapped. If I change the signs to 140 and paint the grill white I should be back to origional 140 right?

Stewart: I gather you've ruled out 100. Have you looked in the photo gallery to see which grill you have? You've never confirmed the numbers I gave you. Sheet metal alone does not give one a definite answer on which model it is. I could take the 4 different grills used on 100, 130 and 140, change the decals and you'd be hard pressed to pick which is right without checking the numbers on the chassis.

The 100 and 130 sheet metal are identical, except for color. The 140 had two different grills and the change occured in mid 1963.

Hard to tell without seeing your grill. Maybe it was swapped too?

Mike I am having a hard time getting used to your new name. You better stop by the cowboard sometime. Don't make me come hunt you.
