The mounting hub on my Belt Pulley Drive has 8 bolt holes. If I mount a 4 bolt pulley the distance between hole center lines will need to be 3 inches. Does this limit me to a steel pulley or did they make a paper pulley with 3 inches between holes? Thanks

The H parts book lists 4 different size pulleys, does not say which are paper, but only one mounting shaft/flange is listed, so all fit. Perhaps the pulleys you are looking at are for another tractor.

CNKS, couldn't find what I was looking for, so just going on memory. I think it was 1951 that the iron pulleys started being sold by IH. Think the reason was because Rockford stopped supplying them and there wasn't enough paper or fiber for IH to supply all buyers with. Browning
manufacturing Co. furnished the later fiber ones. Did find the iron pulleys for H listed in a late H parts book, cant find them listed in parts book before 1952 printing. Can't remember if your 460 is a high utility. If so I noticed some info the other day about when 2 of the 8 rim clamps were changed to different from other 6. Think I remember you had a question in the past about clamps. Without trying to find it agian all I can say was 1959 at a lower serial #.

Iron pulleys are 356940R1, 356941R1, 356942R1 and 356943R1 for H through 400. In 1955 they went back to fiber faced pulleys only and they were 8 bolt hole. Above pulley numbers may not be in a H parts book because I don"t think the iron pulleys started being used until around the supers. Found the info somewhere when they did start and have it writen down, but finding it tonight would be a problem.

the earier ones had four holes just like the flange on your pulley gearbox. the four bolt will interchange with the eight bolt. they came in both paper and the cast iron ones.

I think they all have 8 holes on the tractor and 4 on the pulley. My H is that way and the pulley mounts on fine.

The issue is that the distance between the holes using 4 bolts will be 3 inches. The paper pulleys that I have inquired about have 4plus inches between holes so they will not mount on my drive.Did they make a paper pulley with 3 inches between holes? Thanks

I have a 4 bolt paper pulley on my M. The drive flange had 8 holes. Never did measure them but are you measuring everything the same way? I belive that a standard 4 bolt pulley will work out. Henry
