BACKGROUND: I have two (2)F12's and two (2)F-14's.
I am in the process of restoring the second F-14. I had to purchase new universal joint bolts for one of the F-12's. I tried ordering new bolts for the F-14 I'm currently restoring. I'm being told by my supplier (Gordon Rice) these bolts are no longer available. His suggestion is to use the bolts for an H and use maybe two or three flat washers under the head of the bolt to take up the extra length of the bolts for the H.
QUESTION(s): Has anyone else experienced this problem/fix and if so how did it work out? And BTW clearance for the longer bolt is not going to be a problem. (2)How much luck would I have in reinstalling the old bolts by turning them 180 degrees? I'm not using these tractors for pulling, just wanting to be "politically correct".

Thanks for all of the replys. I just bought 4 new bolts w/nuts off of Ebay. I'm replacing these bolts because they are worn about halfway through. I believe because of usage and age the rubber washers have shrunk allowing the flat connector plate to loosen and "chatter" on the bolts. I guess I'll see if I can get them built up and turned back to their correct diameter. Does anyone know if the bolts from an H will work?

When I re-built my F20 clutch and spline drive clutch shaft I made my own joint bolts and the joint plate that connected the universal. I purchased new rubber washers from Rice Equipment. I have a lathe and mill in my shop.

The rubber was gone from about half of the bolts in my F 12 so I put 2 gardenhose washers on each side of the bolts . The metal washers that hold the rubber washers were still ok. Had to build up some of the bolts but it works just fine for plowing the garden & shows & parades
