Hi,

Does the Flywheel housing have a gasket between it and the block?

The engine gasket kit (from fordson house) did not come with one.

The only concern is sealing the rear camshaft journal, the rest is dry of course.

I have already had to get gaskets from Rice that the kit was missing...wish I knew about Rice before.

Thanks

The gasket kits are not complete any more as far as I can tell. There needs to be a gasket between the block and bell housing to keep camshaft oil in.

There is a gasket between the flywheel housing and the block. It fits between the bolted surfaces (top half). It provides a seal for the open end of the camshaft. The part number as listed in the parts book is 24419-D. Again, Rice Equip. has it. I agree you could probably use some RTV around the cam opening, but if you have a gasket, why not use it? Just my thoughts.

I made a gasket for my F12 to go in there. The area behind the camshaft will have oil under presure in it. Plastic gasket maker would work well there and be easy to do.
