I just picked up two IH Farmall tractors. One a Super A, runs, and the other a Super A? CultiVision that is frozen up. I got them both for $250.00. I plan on restoring the Super A. I've restrored a couple of MGBs and was looking for a new project. What are the best reference materials for this? (am I nuts?). This is exactly how I got started on the MGs.

I'll upload a photo later. Thanks

Thanks for all of the replies and encouragement. Got the tractors home yesterday. Neither has the three point hitch or lifts. But it"s a start.

I"ll definatley be visiting often.

Thanks

Jeff

Some guys have all the luck!!

Now that you have the bug, you'll be a regular on here.

No question too "stupid" Although some questions have been answered so many time the regulars get tired of retyping the answers so check the archives first.

Good luck , Gene

Roadtroop: Two Super A tractors for $250., don't you feel just a wee bit guilty. Why That's a bargain if they were both froze up. Enjoy the tractors, now that your into it, there will be days things don't seem like a bargain.

Go to Binder Books for your manuals, then come back and ask us what you need to know. Just great little tractors for the guy playing or yard work, etc. Heck, my old uncle Wallace farmed a 100 acres back in the 50s, milked 20 cows and a Super A was his only tractor power. Now, the great thing about a Super A, it doesn't break your pocket book at the parts counter, really doesn't bend it seriously. Enjoy the tractor, and let us enjoy it with you.

Sounds like you are off to a great start, both for $250??? The folks on this site are the most helpful and respond quicker than any other. I agree that you need to find a couple of manuals, not the newer ones, ones that came with the tractors. A lot of replacement manuals are too general and not as model specific. Best of luck!

There aint no difference between the SUPER A and the SUPER A CULTIVISION. The only difference is the decals if that is realy the tractors you have as sometimes the wrong decals are installed as is your case. They should be the same. You need to look them over real careful to see if and what the differences mite be.

I would suggest a parts manual and a service manual. The parrts manual shows ech part and wheree it goes and the service manual how to do it. They can be purchased thru many sources, some here on YT or try Binderbooks.com. They have them all. Super A's are great tractors complete with hydraulics and can be adapted to most jobs around the area. And. they are fun to drive down to the mailbox. I have had people stop me on the highway and take a picture. Henry

Welcome:
As far as reference I prefer to work off Genuine IH parts/service manuals. They are availailble thru your Case/IH dealer or Binder Books.
This site offers reference material for sale and I have heard it is also very good.Just click on the farmall/ih gray box on the top for ordering instructions.
Good Luck
