Super H Fuel Tank Mounting - Parts Order?

I'm preparing to reinstall the fuel tank on a Super H that I took apart in October. An elderly neighbor had asked me to clean the rust out of the tank for him and now that I have that done, time to put her back together.

However... when I took it apart, things didn't seem to be as original. I found three springs, one of which was 1/2 as long as the others. There were three 7/16 or so washer under the nuts, though only two of the studs had larger washers on top of the tank mount between the spring and mount. These two larger washers also had notches cut into them, probably to make a previous install easier. There were only two rubber-like bushing, both mounted up against the tank.

I've read though the archives here (most helpful) as well as looked at the parts diagram at IHCase, so I know what parts I'm supposed have: 1 washer, 1 spring and 1 nut for each stud. The parts diagram does not really show the assembly order though.

Now my question: I'm not at all confident that how I found it was how it's supposed to be. So, I want to ensure I have the correct ORDER these parts are installed.

I would guess the spring goes ABOVE the mounting pad, over the stud, between the tank bottom and pad, thereby allowing the tank to essentially "float", with the springs bearing the weight of the tank. The rubber pad would sit against the bottom of the tank, with the spring bearing against this rubber washer. I would also then expect the regular washer would go on the BOTTOM of the mount, between the mounting pad and the nut.

How'd I do?

Note, I'm intending to round up the correct-type parts before I actually put it back together.

Thanks...

Thanks for responding so quickly folks. Boy am I glad I asked though, I had it totally wrong.

I'm made a new rubber pad from an old dirt bike tire, seemed just about the right thickness.

I am working on a '47 H and recently put the tank back on the chassis. From studying the parts manual and my own recollection I came up with the following: The tank rides on this big rubbery washer (about 3" diameter and 1/4" thick. Below the big washer is the support and below this is the spring, followed by a metal washer with a castillated nut and a cotter pin. I cut new studs (7/16"-NF-3 lg) and drilled a hole for the cotter. It seems I need to add some flat washers (below the spring) to stiffen the mount because at certain engine speeds the tank oscillates in a sympathetic motion.

The parts needed is the insulating pads, springs and nuts. With the fuel tank off, slide the insulating pads onto the fuel tank studs FIRST, and install the tank onto the fuel tank supports. Now slide on the springs (at the BOTTOM of the supports) and put on the nuts. That is the correct way to install the tank.
