I am restoring the above model and found the idiot lights work as well as the fuel gauge. However, the temp part of the cluster doesn't. Someone has cut the sending cabel off approx. 6 inches under the cover rendering it useless. A new cluster cost anywhere from $175 to $225.I was wondering if someone could tell me if you could cut a 2" hole in the dash under the cluster and use a IH temp gauge from a 460 or 560 say. What about the sending unit screwing in the block? Would love your input. Thanks
Jerry

Thanks for much for replying. But someone before me has cut the orginal cabel and thrown it away. That's why I was thinking of putting a 460 or other in under the original cluster. I have found a site that sells these replacement clusters aftermarket for around 165 bucks including shipping. Still looking. Thanks again Jerry

Sit in the seat and look down at the spot where you want to mount that gauge.

Just my opinion, but what good is a gauge if you can't easily see it?

Good Point. But I can determine that later if I could find a IH small gauge that will work. The one on my 460 has white, green, red in colors with the IH symbol. I may not use it, but if it won't work, then there is no reason to even persue the issue. I am not sure if the 460 has something like a certain type sending unit that I would have to buy, etc, etc. I was also told that the OEM gauge had a mercury sending cabel and if the tractor was tore apart and someone broke the line, that's all she wrote.

Unless you go with an aftermarket electric, all the mechanical gauges come with the thermocoupler/bulb.
