My6 old H manual shows three shims could be used. A regular, thin, or thick. I suppose combinations of these also. I would think that after years of wear you would need LESS shimming than originally installed.

Neat. I've been following your project - I seem to be one step behind you with my Super C. I put the transmission back in last night, and am waiting for my new bull cage o-rings so I can re-install the differential.

In the meantime, I've been thinking about shimming & gear adjustment. I'm going to start by putting everything back the way it was & see what I get. In your pictures, are you measuring side-to-side movement of the diff. with the dial indicator, or is that gear backlash? (I need to get a dial indicator).

Thanks, Doug

I used it for both. HF has the magnetic stand & dial indicator on sale for around $16, just bought mine last nite ; )

Came in handy for seeing what I was up against for tolerances.

Yes it did Jim, the differential is out about .010 so it made it hard to adjust, but I think I got it.

Thanks
Randy
