I have to figure out a way to get mine off, since I can't find a bearing-splitter to borrow, and I was searching through the archives to get some ideas, but I read this...

"I've never seen one come with a "wear ring". I think you are looking for what I call a Speedi-Sleeve. Check with a machine shop, they should be able to order one to fit over your crank pulley. Chicago Rawhide used to sell them for one, I think there are others too. You can also replace the pulley with a new one."

...and I'm wondering if this is referring to a groove that the BELT wears?

Or do I have something ELSE to worry about?

For those who read my question about my engine stand, here's how I got around it. Left me room to get at the rear seal cover.

Thanks to all for the advice! 8)

Is this what you are looking for. I built this one with only a drill press and band saw. All the measurements are here for you. HTH

The front oil seal rides on the V pulley on the front of the engine. When I replaced the seal on mine, I bought it from Case IH and it came with the
Speedie Sleeve.

Harbor Freight has bearing separators for about $10.00. Do a search for bearing separators and you can see a picture of one. You will still need
a puller like Bigdog made for his Cub. Hal

Oil seals will sometimes wear a grove in the metal surface (I know that's hard to believe, that rubber will wear down metal, but it happens). So instead of welding and then machining the surface, someone designed a thin sleeve to fit over the metal surface and called it speedi-sleeve. In the case of an engine it would be the front and rear main seal. The A engine uses a felt insert instead of rubber.
