What Are The Top Speeds For A McCormick Deering W-4 & A McCormick Deering W-6?,(Both Standard Models)

Neb. state test reads W6 at 161/8 mph W4 15 mph.

I don't think IH intended to make the speeds exactly the same. Tillage gears are about 1/4 mph slower than the H or M. 5th in the W4 is 14 mph or slightly more than 1 mph slower than the H. W6 is 14.5 mph or almost 2 mph slower than the M. These are factory specs, they can change significantly depending on tire size.

the the transmission gears are same same as their counterparts the h and m. the ring and pinion ratios are different to make up for the smaller diameter rear tires. this gives them the same ground speeds as the h and m.

Don't know if the gears are the same but I had an ID-6 that would outrun the 806D, and by a fair margin.

About 16 mph for the W6. Plenty fast enough.
I imagine the W4 is about the same.
