I recently purchased a 656 and while doing an inspection I noticed that the clutch throw out bearing did not seem to have a grease fitting in it. It seems that somehow, someone was greasing it though. I looked in the International book and it shows a fitting in the sleeve cyl release that pushes the throw out bearing. But mine doesn't seem to be there. Any ideas
Thanks

You are right Jerry, there isn't a zerk in that one. At one time the IH engineers decided that a grease zerk was not needed. The bearing was also made without the slot that let it take grease. Not to many years back the new bearing and release sleeve were made greaseable again. If you ever split it for repairs you can install a greaseable one.

Thanks Ted in Neb. Are they a sealed bearing or what?? What keeps the grease in them? Looks like they will go dry without grease. Thanks for any info you have. Jerry

The bearing is factory greased & sealed. Will normally run a long time. Keep clutch kinkage adjusted & don't ride the clutch pedal.

Take off the inspection cover on the bottom of the clutch housing and look up in there. Grease fitting should be on the end of about a 3 inch pipe IIRC.

Thanks for the reply. But that's were I noticed there was no fitting. My 460 has the grease fitting directly attached to the greaser around the bearing itself. The book shows a grease fitting in the casted part that pushes the throw out bearing, but I can't see it. Jerry
